service

Micki Brown Special Sections Editor (Victorville Daily Daily Press)
A few years ago, Brock Buccola moved his family to the High Desert,
but continued his daily commute to the Los Angeles area where he was
the director of finance for a law firm. Day after day, he felt he
was just passing through, and didn’t feel like he was a part of the
community where his kids were going to school, where his family was
living their lives.
Early in 2003, Brock’s wife Darlene came up with an idea for a new
business.

Busy people create burgeoning market for
take-it-to-you services

By LAURIE LUCAS / The Press-Enterprise For the scoop
on dog-do, who ya gonna call? Brock Buccola! More than three years
ago he founded a pet waste removal company, The Poop Troop, which
serves portions of the Inland area.
After three years, business is picking up for the Victorville
resident, who charges $14 for the first dog, $4 for each additional
dog. Buccola, a former finance director for a Los Angeles law firm,
loves canine companions romping around while he double-bags and
removes their droppings.
Typically, clients hire him because they're elderly, disabled,
commuters or pregnant and averse to the smell.
"They're far from lazy, but very responsible pet owners," said his
business partner and wife Darlene Buccola. "Dog waste breeds
bacteria."

By DIANA SHOLLEY, STAFF WRITER Some
people may think Brock Buccola's job stinks.
And in many cases it does, but it doesn't bother him.
The aroma filling his nostrils these days is the sweet smell of
success.
Buccola is the owner and founder of The Poop Troop, a pet waste
removal service he established more than a year ago.
About a month ago he started branching out into the Inland Valley
beginning with Upland and Rancho Cucamonga.
"I was the director of finance for a Los Angeles law firm and
commuting three and a half to four hours a day," said Buccola, who
lives in Victorville with his wife and three daughters. "When I
moved to the high dessert the commute was unbearable. It was
stressful and I never had any time to spend with my family or to be
a real part of my community."

No place like Home Show

By GRETCHEN LOSI/Staff Writer VICTORVILLE — Many
holiday shoppers who attended the Home and Recreation Show on
Saturday got a head start on the holiday shopping season.
Kevin Daniels of Hesperia said he bought candles for his mom and
sister in Oklahoma, some jewelry for his nieces and a little
something for himself.
"I'm going to sign up with the Poop Troop," said Daniels, referring
to a business that removes dog waste from their clients' yards. "I
work down the hill so don't get around to that chore as much as I
should. It'll be money well spent."

Scooper business serves dog owners
Poop Troop returns sanity
and sanitation to yards with dogs

By JAMES RAMAGE/Staff Writer
APPLE VALLEY — Brock Buccola is serious about scooping
poop.
"A lot of people just don't want to clean up after them."
-- Mary Dobler, dog owner
Because dog waste ruins a yard, attracts
disease-carrying pests, angers neighbors and endangers
the health of children and pets, he said, it should be
removed periodically.
That's were Buccola and his wife, Darlene, come to the
rescue.
